B). 40

C). 45

D). 90

This Question has 2 answers.

45

NA

Solution:

Let the volume of the drum be 'V'.

Let 'x' litre be the capacity of the bucket Q. Then the capacity of bucket P = 3x

Let 'n' be the number of turns taken by the buckets.

Given: Bucket P takes 60 turns to fill the empty drum,

We know that, Volume of the drum = n × capacity of the bucket P

V = 60 × 3x

V = 180 x

x = V/180

Volume of the drum when filled together by the two buckets P & Q,

V = n × capacity of bucket P and Q

V = n × ( 3x + x )

V = 4xn

V = 4 (V/180)n

1 = 4 (1/180)n

1 = (1/45)n

n = 45

So, the correct option is C). 45
