A liquid 'P' is $1\frac{3}{7}$ times as heavy as water and water is $1\frac{2}{5}$ times as heavy as another liquid 'Q' The amount of liquid ‘P' that must be added to 7 litres of the liquid ‘Q' so that the mixture may weigh as much as an equal volume of water ,will be
1). 7 litres
2). $5\frac{1}{6}$ litres
3). 5 litres
4). $4\frac{2}{3}$ litres

This Question has 3 answers.

option 4 is the right one

Let $x$ litres of liquid P be mixed to $7$ litres of liquid Q.
According to the question,

$x\times\frac{10}{7}$+$\frac{5}{7}\times7$ = x+7

$10x + 35 = 7x + 49$
$= 10x – 7x = 49 – 35$
$= 3x = 14$

$x = 4 \frac{2}{3}$

USING ALLIGATION
 P: W= 10:7
 W:Q = 7:5
 P:W:Q = 10:7:5
We have make P and Q equal to water

So, P Q 10. 5 7 7-5. 10-7 2. 3
Now, 3 units = 7
 So 1 unit = 7/3 and 2 units = 7/3 *2 = 14/3
