The radius of a circle is equal to a side of a square whose area is 196 sq metres. What is the perimeter of the circle?
1). 44 m
2). 88 m
3). 78 m
4). 96 m
Let the side of the square be x metres
∴ The radius of the circle will also be x metres
Now, the area of square is given 196 sq metres
We know that,
Area of square = (side)2
∴ x2 = 196
⇒ x = 14 m
Now, the radius of the circle is also 14 m
Perimeter of circle = 2πx
∴ Perimeter of circle = 2 × (22/7) × 14
⇒ Perimeter of circle = 88 m
