IB DP Visual Arts SL
Visual Arts SL is the Standard Level course for Visual Arts. It covers making, analysing and exhibiting art, supported by a process portfolio.
Standard Level (SL) courses cover the essential content and skills in roughly 150 teaching hours, giving a solid foundation without the added depth and breadth of Higher Level.
What students will do
- Develop a personal style
- Research and analyse artworks
- Curate and reflect on a body of work
Internal assessment
Students complete a process portfolio and exhibition, which contributes to the final grade alongside the external exams.
Share work-in-progress with a friend or teacher early. Feedback while there is still time to act on it is worth more than praise at the end.
Should I choose HL or HL?
Choose HL for subjects you enjoy most or may study at university, and SL for the rest. Your teacher or DP coordinator can advise on the right balance.
