Probability in IB MYP Grade 2 Mathematics

In IB MYP Grade 2 Mathematics, Probability, within Statistics and Probability gives developing learners (ages 12–13) the chance to practise describing events as likely or unlikely, ordering outcomes by likelihood and calculating simple probabilities.

MYP Mathematics is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: investigating patterns, C: communicating and D: applying mathematics in real-world contexts). Regular practice with probability builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.

What learners practise

  • Describing events as likely or unlikely
  • Ordering outcomes by likelihood
  • Calculating simple probabilities

For students

Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.

For revision

Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.

For teachers

Use probability activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.

Study tip

Little and often beats cramming: ten focused questions a day will build more fluency than one long session at the weekend.
