Evolution in IB MYP Grade 5 Biology
Evolution is part of IB MYP Grade 5 Biology. At this advanced stage (ages 15–16), learners work on analysing evidence for evolution and applying evolutionary theory critically.
MYP Biology is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: inquiring and designing, C: processing and evaluating and D: reflecting on the impacts of science). Regular practice with evolution builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.
What learners practise
- Analysing evidence for evolution
- Applying evolutionary theory critically
For students
Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.
For revision
Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.
For teachers
Use evolution activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.
Sketch a quick diagram or flow chart for every process you study. Visual summaries are far easier to revise from than paragraphs.
Quick answers
Who is the Evolution page for?
It is for IB MYP Grade 5 Biology learners, typically aged 15–16, and for the parents and teachers who support them.
Are evolution resources free?
Many are. Each resource shows a clear Free or price label, so you can start with the free ones and add premium resources when you need more practice.
How should I use these resources?
Pick one resource, complete it without help first, then check and correct. Repeating this little and often is more effective than one long session.
