Energy in IB MYP Grade 5 Physics
In IB MYP Grade 5 Physics, Energy gives advanced learners (ages 15–16) the chance to practise understanding energy transfer and conservation and applying energy concepts quantitatively.
MYP Physics is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: inquiring and designing, C: processing and evaluating and D: reflecting on the impacts of science). Regular practice with energy builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.
What learners practise
- Understanding energy transfer and conservation
- Applying energy concepts quantitatively
For students
Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.
For revision
Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.
For teachers
Use energy activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.
Read each question for the command word (describe, explain, compare) before you start. It tells you how much detail is expected.
Quick answers
Who is the Energy page for?
It is for IB MYP Grade 5 Physics learners, typically aged 15–16, and for the parents and teachers who support them.
Are energy resources free?
Many are. Each resource shows a clear Free or price label, so you can start with the free ones and add premium resources when you need more practice.
How should I use these resources?
Pick one resource, complete it without help first, then check and correct. Repeating this little and often is more effective than one long session.
