IB KG Mathematics resources

Mathematics in KG begins with the numbers 0 to 9. Children count real objects, recognise each numeral and learn to write it correctly.

What learners practise

  • Writing the numbers 0 to 9
  • Counting objects
  • Matching numbers to groups
  • Using a ten frame
Tip

Always count aloud and touch each object once. Then write the number. Counting first makes the number meaningful.

Which numbers do KG children learn?

The numbers 0 to 9 come first. Number tracing sheets give one number per page, then all together, then mixed.
