Let the cost price (C.P.) per kg of the fruits is Rs. 1000.
The shopkeeper cheats to the extent of 8% while buying and selling fruits, by using tampered weights.
When the shopkeeper sells the tampered weights shows 8% more weight than the normal weight and 8% less weight than the normal weight while the shopkeeper buys the fruits .
If the shopkeeper buys one kg of fruits with the tampered weight he gets 1.08 kg of fruits.
⇒ C.P. of the fruits bought by the shopkeeper = 1.08 × 1000 = Rs. 1080
C.P. of 1.08 kg of fruits for which the shopkeeper bought = Rs. 1000
Selling price (S.P.) of 1.08 kg of fruits = 1080 + (8% of 1080) = 1080 + 86.4 = Rs. 1166.4
(? S.P. = C.P. + Profit)
Gain% = [(S.P. – C.P.)/C.P.] × 100 = [(1166.4 – 1000)/1000] × 100 = 16.64%
Gain% = 16.64%
