Circles in IB MYP Grade 1 Mathematics
Circles is part of IB MYP Grade 1 Mathematics, within Geometry. At this foundational stage (ages 11–12), learners work on recognising a circle and its parts and identifying radius and diameter.
MYP Mathematics is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: investigating patterns, C: communicating and D: applying mathematics in real-world contexts). Regular practice with circles builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.
What learners practise
- Recognising a circle and its parts
- Identifying radius and diameter
For students
Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.
For revision
Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.
For teachers
Use circles activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.
Show every step of your working, then check each answer by estimating first. Examiners reward clear reasoning as much as correct answers.
Quick answers
Who is the Circles page for?
It is for IB MYP Grade 1 Mathematics learners, typically aged 11–12, and for the parents and teachers who support them.
Are circles resources free?
Many are. Each resource shows a clear Free or price label, so you can start with the free ones and add premium resources when you need more practice.
How should I use these resources?
Pick one resource, complete it without help first, then check and correct. Repeating this little and often is more effective than one long session.
