Triangles in IB MYP Grade 1 Mathematics

In IB MYP Grade 1 Mathematics, Triangles, within Geometry gives foundational learners (ages 11–12) the chance to practise recognising a triangle shape and naming types of triangles.

MYP Mathematics is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: investigating patterns, C: communicating and D: applying mathematics in real-world contexts). Regular practice with triangles builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.

What learners practise

  • Recognising a triangle shape
  • Naming types of triangles

For students

Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.

For revision

Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.

For teachers

Use triangles activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.

Study tip

When you get a question wrong, redo it a day later without looking at the solution. If you can do it cold, the idea has stuck.
