Sequences in IB MYP Grade 4 Mathematics

In IB MYP Grade 4 Mathematics, Sequences, within Algebra gives advancing learners (ages 14–15) the chance to practise describing the rule for a sequence, finding terms in arithmetic sequences and working with arithmetic and geometric sequences.

MYP Mathematics is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: investigating patterns, C: communicating and D: applying mathematics in real-world contexts). Regular practice with sequences builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.

What learners practise

  • Describing the rule for a sequence
  • Finding terms in arithmetic sequences
  • Working with arithmetic and geometric sequences

For students

Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.

For revision

Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.

For teachers

Use sequences activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.

Study tip

Little and often beats cramming: ten focused questions a day will build more fluency than one long session at the weekend.
