Music in IB MYP Grade 5 Performing Arts
Music is part of IB MYP Grade 5 Performing Arts. At this advanced stage (ages 15–16), learners work on composing and performing short pieces and analysing and performing more complex music.
MYP Performing Arts is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: developing skills, C: thinking creatively and D: responding). Regular practice with music builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.
What learners practise
- Composing and performing short pieces
- Analysing and performing more complex music
For students
Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.
For revision
Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.
For teachers
Use music activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.
Keep a process journal. Sketches, notes and reflections show your thinking, and they are exactly what assessors want to see.
Quick answers
Who is the Music page for?
It is for IB MYP Grade 5 Performing Arts learners, typically aged 15–16, and for the parents and teachers who support them.
Are music resources free?
Many are. Each resource shows a clear Free or price label, so you can start with the free ones and add premium resources when you need more practice.
How should I use these resources?
Pick one resource, complete it without help first, then check and correct. Repeating this little and often is more effective than one long session.
