Global Development in IB MYP Grade 5 Geography
In IB MYP Grade 5 Geography, Global Development gives advanced learners (ages 15–16) the chance to practise analysing causes of global development gaps and critically evaluating global development issues.
MYP Geography is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: investigating, C: communicating and D: thinking critically). Regular practice with global development builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.
What learners practise
- Analysing causes of global development gaps
- Critically evaluating global development issues
For students
Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.
For revision
Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.
For teachers
Use global development activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.
Build a simple timeline or concept map for each unit. Seeing the whole picture on one page makes revision much faster.
Quick answers
Who is the Global Development page for?
It is for IB MYP Grade 5 Geography learners, typically aged 15–16, and for the parents and teachers who support them.
Are global development resources free?
Many are. Each resource shows a clear Free or price label, so you can start with the free ones and add premium resources when you need more practice.
How should I use these resources?
Pick one resource, complete it without help first, then check and correct. Repeating this little and often is more effective than one long session.
