Phonics and Early Reading in IB KG
Phonics links the letters children have learnt to the sounds they make, so they can start to read. These sheets use picture words, matching, circling and tracing so every child can join in.
What learners practise
- Hearing the first sound in a word
- Blending three-letter CVC words
- Recognising common sight words
- Spotting rhyming words
For students
Follow the instructions, then try on your own. Colour the animal when you finish.
For parents
Print on A4 and sit beside your child. Short, happy sessions work best.
For teachers
Use as a morning task, centre activity or homework. Each page has a name, class and date box.
Say the sound, not just the letter name: "a" as in apple, not "ay". Slow, clear sounds help blending later.
Quick answers
