IB DP Computer Science SL
Computer Science SL is the Standard Level course for Computer Science. It covers computational thinking, programming, systems and data, taught through problem solving.
Standard Level (SL) courses cover the essential content and skills in roughly 150 teaching hours, giving a solid foundation without the added depth and breadth of Higher Level.
What students will do
- Design algorithms
- Write and test programs
- Explain how computer systems work
Internal assessment
Students complete a computational solution to a real problem, which contributes to the final grade alongside the external exams.
Link every fact to an everyday example. Ideas you can connect to real life are much easier to remember and apply.
Should I choose HL or HL?
Choose HL for subjects you enjoy most or may study at university, and SL for the rest. Your teacher or DP coordinator can advise on the right balance.
