Research and Analysis in IB MYP Grade 1 Product Design
Research and Analysis is part of IB MYP Grade 1 Product Design. At this foundational stage (ages 11–12), learners work on finding information with guidance and gathering information from simple sources.
MYP Product Design is assessed against four criteria (A: inquiring and analysing, B: developing ideas, C: creating the solution and D: evaluating). Regular practice with research and analysis builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.
What learners practise
- Finding information with guidance
- Gathering information from simple sources
For students
Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.
For revision
Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.
For teachers
Use research and analysis activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.
Test early and test often. A quick prototype that fails teaches you more than a polished idea that was never tried.
Quick answers
Who is the Research and Analysis page for?
It is for IB MYP Grade 1 Product Design learners, typically aged 11–12, and for the parents and teachers who support them.
Are research and analysis resources free?
Many are. Each resource shows a clear Free or price label, so you can start with the free ones and add premium resources when you need more practice.
How should I use these resources?
Pick one resource, complete it without help first, then check and correct. Repeating this little and often is more effective than one long session.
