Training and Performance in IB MYP Grade 1 Physical and Health Education

Training and Performance is part of IB MYP Grade 1 Physical and Health Education. At this foundational stage (ages 11–12), learners work on exploring simple physical challenges and developing basic training habits.

MYP Physical and Health Education is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: planning for performance, C: applying and performing and D: reflecting and improving performance). Regular practice with training and performance builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.

What learners practise

  • Exploring simple physical challenges
  • Developing basic training habits

For students

Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.

For revision

Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.

For teachers

Use training and performance activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.

Study tip

Warm up properly and record how your body responds. Noticing heart rate, breathing and recovery makes the theory real.
