Ecology in IB MYP Grade 1 Biology

In IB MYP Grade 1 Biology, Ecology gives foundational learners (ages 11–12) the chance to practise exploring habitats and living things and investigating food chains.

MYP Biology is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: inquiring and designing, C: processing and evaluating and D: reflecting on the impacts of science). Regular practice with ecology builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.

What learners practise

  • Exploring habitats and living things
  • Investigating food chains

For students

Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.

For revision

Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.

For teachers

Use ecology activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.

Study tip

Link every fact to an everyday example. Ideas you can connect to real life are much easier to remember and apply.
