Electricity and Magnetism in IB MYP Grade 2 Physics

Electricity and Magnetism is part of IB MYP Grade 2 Physics. At this developing stage (ages 12–13), learners work on exploring simple circuits and magnets, investigating how circuits work and understanding current, voltage and resistance.

MYP Physics is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: inquiring and designing, C: processing and evaluating and D: reflecting on the impacts of science). Regular practice with electricity and magnetism builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.

What learners practise

  • Exploring simple circuits and magnets
  • Investigating how circuits work
  • Understanding current, voltage and resistance

For students

Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.

For revision

Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.

For teachers

Use electricity and magnetism activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.

Study tip

Sketch a quick diagram or flow chart for every process you study. Visual summaries are far easier to revise from than paragraphs.

Quick answers

Who is the Electricity and Magnetism page for?

It is for IB MYP Grade 2 Physics learners, typically aged 12–13, and for the parents and teachers who support them.

Are electricity and magnetism resources free?

Many are. Each resource shows a clear Free or price label, so you can start with the free ones and add premium resources when you need more practice.

How should I use these resources?

Pick one resource, complete it without help first, then check and correct. Repeating this little and often is more effective than one long session.
