Data Representation in IB MYP Grade 3 Mathematics

Data Representation is part of IB MYP Grade 3 Mathematics, within Statistics and Probability. At this intermediate stage (ages 13–14), learners work on making a simple bar chart, choosing an appropriate chart for data and representing grouped and continuous data.

MYP Mathematics is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: investigating patterns, C: communicating and D: applying mathematics in real-world contexts). Regular practice with data representation builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.

What learners practise

  • Making a simple bar chart
  • Choosing an appropriate chart for data
  • Representing grouped and continuous data

For students

Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.

For revision

Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.

For teachers

Use data representation activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.

Study tip

Little and often beats cramming: ten focused questions a day will build more fluency than one long session at the weekend.
