Statistics and Probability in IB MYP Grade 3 Mathematics

In IB MYP Grade 3 Mathematics, Statistics and Probability gives intermediate learners (ages 13–14) the chance to practise reading a simple picture graph, collecting and organising data and calculating averages and likelihood.

MYP Mathematics is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: investigating patterns, C: communicating and D: applying mathematics in real-world contexts). Regular practice with statistics and probability builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.

What learners practise

  • Reading a simple picture graph
  • Collecting and organising data
  • Calculating averages and likelihood

For students

Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.

For revision

Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.

For teachers

Use statistics and probability activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.

Study tip

When you get a question wrong, redo it a day later without looking at the solution. If you can do it cold, the idea has stuck.
