Art History and Context in IB MYP Grade 4 Visual Arts
In IB MYP Grade 4 Visual Arts, Art History and Context gives advancing learners (ages 14–15) the chance to practise understanding how context shapes art, analysing artists and movements and critically evaluating art history and context.
MYP Visual Arts is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: developing skills, C: thinking creatively and D: responding). Regular practice with art history and context builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.
What learners practise
- Understanding how context shapes art
- Analysing artists and movements
- Critically evaluating art history and context
For students
Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.
For revision
Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.
For teachers
Use art history and context activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.
Share work-in-progress with a friend or teacher early. Feedback while there is still time to act on it is worth more than praise at the end.
