Acids and Bases in IB MYP Grade 5 Chemistry
Acids and Bases is part of IB MYP Grade 5 Chemistry. At this advanced stage (ages 15–16), learners work on analysing acid-base reactions and applying acid-base theory quantitatively.
MYP Chemistry is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: inquiring and designing, C: processing and evaluating and D: reflecting on the impacts of science). Regular practice with acids and bases builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.
What learners practise
- Analysing acid-base reactions
- Applying acid-base theory quantitatively
For students
Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.
For revision
Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.
For teachers
Use acids and bases activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.
Sketch a quick diagram or flow chart for every process you study. Visual summaries are far easier to revise from than paragraphs.
