Waves in IB MYP Grade 1 Physics
Waves is part of IB MYP Grade 1 Physics. At this foundational stage (ages 11–12), learners work on exploring sound and light in everyday life and investigating how waves travel.
MYP Physics is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: inquiring and designing, C: processing and evaluating and D: reflecting on the impacts of science). Regular practice with waves builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.
What learners practise
- Exploring sound and light in everyday life
- Investigating how waves travel
For students
Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.
For revision
Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.
For teachers
Use waves activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.
Read each question for the command word (describe, explain, compare) before you start. It tells you how much detail is expected.

Are waves resources free?
Many are. Each resource shows a clear Free or price label, so you can start with the free ones and add premium resources when you need more practice.
