Matter in IB MYP Grade 4 Chemistry

In IB MYP Grade 4 Chemistry, Matter gives advancing learners (ages 14–15) the chance to practise investigating states of matter and changes, understanding particle theory of matter and analysing matter at the atomic and molecular level.

MYP Chemistry is assessed against four criteria (A: knowing and understanding, B: inquiring and designing, C: processing and evaluating and D: reflecting on the impacts of science). Regular practice with matter builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.

What learners practise

  • Investigating states of matter and changes
  • Understanding particle theory of matter
  • Analysing matter at the atomic and molecular level

For students

Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.

For revision

Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.

For teachers
