Design Cycle in IB MYP Grade 3 Product Design
Design Cycle is part of IB MYP Grade 3 Product Design. At this intermediate stage (ages 13–14), learners work on identifying a simple design problem, planning and creating a solution and testing and improving a design.
MYP Product Design is assessed against four criteria (A: inquiring and analysing, B: developing ideas, C: creating the solution and D: evaluating). Regular practice with design cycle builds the knowledge and skills those criteria reward.
What learners practise
- Identifying a simple design problem
- Planning and creating a solution
- Testing and improving a design
For students
Work through the worksheets, practice questions and revision resources at your own pace. Check your answers, then redo anything that felt tricky and explain each answer in your own words.
For revision
Use these resources for homework, end-of-unit revision and catching up on anything missed in class.
For teachers
Use design cycle activities as a starter, homework or retrieval practice, and mix free and premium resources to differentiate.
Document every stage of the design cycle with photos, sketches and short notes. The process matters as much as the final product.

Many are. Each resource shows a clear Free or price label, so you can start with the free ones and add premium resources when you need more practice.
